I confess, I’ve never blogged before, but I thought I’d like to get this going.
This Camp Mar-Ven web site has been a long time coming.
First thanks goes to Mike Holmes. A few years ago, Mike thought we might like to do it sometime, so he took it upon himself to reserve the name. I admit, I was slow on the uptake – life has a way of occupying all the spare moments sometimes.
This past summer, who should appear at the bottom of the driveway but Mark and Bonnie Mintz. When I approached them and asked if I could help any way, they sheepishly said something about attending some camp here when they were kids. We all identified ourselves, and the next piece of the puzzle was put in place. Mark has put a lot of energy into getting the site populated. Thanks, Mark!
Now we can all have fun with it, and maybe even be helpful in growing and maintaining the site.
I have been in Wellfleet for the past 6 years for portions of spring, summer, and fall. We keep encountering old Mar-Venites coming to have a look, reminisce – what a great part the Camp experience has played in so many lives.
We are lucky to have many of the old photos, which I donated to the Wellfleet Historical Society, so they will be preserved and anyone can see them. Mark has begun to scan them for the web site.
Every time someone appears, it is such fun to see “what has become” of us all. I for one would love to see a part of the web site devoted to “where are they now?” People could send stories and/or picture, maybe even “then” and “now” pictures or remarks. Meanwhile, put any bits on the blog site.
I could go on – but I still intend to be brief (too late?). Just to catch you up a bit on the Richman family: Saul passed away 3 ½ years ago. He got to spend his final summer in his beloved Wellfleet. That place, and Camp Mar-Ven, occupied a huge place in his heart. Flip is living in Gainesville, where my husband Eric and I have our home. She doesn’t travel much, and the last time she was in Wellfleet was when she and Saul came up with us in 2002. Steve, who calls himself Garcia, lives in Westport, MA.
I’ll say more later, but for now I want to post this, and hope to encourage the rest of you to also post something.
I’d like to know how people feel about a directory of people and current contact information – maybe requiring some kind of registration for security?
We’ve also entertained the idea of a reunion, which would have to be somewhere in Wellfleet that could accommodate enough parking. Any interested parties?
Hi Martha, Camp Marven has always held a place in my heart. I've driven through several times over the years or just sat on the pier in Wellfleet and looked across the bay. About 15 years ago I knocked on your parents door. Your dad came out and said "Hi Jimmy" like 35 years had never passed. I had a wonderful visit with them.
I recognized many faces and although I am not in contact with anyone I will do what I can to spread the word. I think it's a wonderful idea to have a reunion and a database. Let me be the first to add my name.
Hi to all, I went to Camp MarVen 1968-71, and loved every minute of it. I still think the campsite is the prettiest place I've ever been. I'd love to hear what has become of other campers, and think it would be lots of fun to see then-and-now photos. I live in Dartmouth Mass and sometimes run into former campers; I'll spread the word to them too. I'll keep checking this site for more info...Carol Nerenberg Falk
I am shocked and thrilled to find the Camp Mar-Ven web site. For years I have searched in hopes that I would find Saul, Flip, Martha and Steve. I attended Camp Marven for years during the 60's. They were by far that happiest and greatest days of my 56 years. I want to give what I can in materials and support for this site. All the great friends I met at Camp should email me at carey@vinart.com. Again, I'm thrilled to see this and please keep in touch..
I'm happy to see the web site up and running. We've tried to stay connected to Camp Mar-Ven. Rebecca and I visited Saul and Flip in Wellfleet, almost every year. Over the years I've run into only a few former campers and staff.
I was at camp for the first eight years, startig as a kithcen boy, then a swimming instructor, winding up as waterfront director for the last 3 or 4 years. Rebecca (Wollison) was there for 7 years, starting the second year. We dated at camp and continued to date until 1964 when we were married. In March we will have been married for 43 years. We have 2 children, Stacy and Seth. Stacy is married to Marc Founier; Seth is still single.
I became interested in guitar and banjo while at camp, and have stayed active in the folk music world all these years, performing around the world and publishing a magazine for people interested in acoustic instruments. It was called Mugwumps Instrument Herald and is now available on the web at Mugwumps.com. 6 years ago I started a series of music camps for adults -- Mandolin in April, Banjo in May, and Old Time Music in October.
Please visit my web site and send me an email to say hello.
Hi, It was nice to see what Mike has done. I would have liked to see some info when the camp started back in 1953-54. George Jacobs was the head councelor, Herb Seltzer the waterfront Director, Arthur Siegal in charge of Dramatics, Mike epstein head of athletics. One of my favorite stories about camp was , one morning for flag raising Saul called up the selected bunk to raise the flag. However the flag pole was remvoved and the sneaky ones ( george, herb, arthur and mike who were hiding in the woods ) were not allowed into breakfast . Flip locked the door on us. I was at camp for about 7 years and loved every moment of it. I often talk about camp quite often. I hired an assistant waterfront director Marge Solo who became my wife some 46 years ago. We have 3 children Jeff , Scott and Lori. Jeff and His wife Sue have a son Avery who will be 11 in a couple of months. Lori and Scott her husband do not have a family right now and my son Scott is still single. Marge and I would stop by the Camp every summer to say hi to Saul and flip. The last time we stopped by Martha and her husband were there and we had a chance to talk about old times. I speak to arthur evrey week he is as nutty as ever. He told me about the web site ( he heard from a relative Risha Margolis).WE would like to hear more and would appreciate it if some of the original staff pictures were available.
Just thought I would google camp mar-ven and was thrilled there was a site. I only went to this camp one summer (1969 or 1970). I came to camp with 4 other NYC girls and had a blast (bunk G Green as I recall). I possibly had too much fun for they did not invite me and three of my friends back. What I remember most was the sailing, the charm of Cape Cod, and the small, close group of campers (almost all from Mass.) I never saw or spoke to any of my fellow campmates again (except my NYC bunkmates whom I still speak to today). If any one out there remembers Mindy (me), Helaine, Alicia, Diane or Terry feel free to give a shout.BayMindy@aol.com
What a treat to see all the new pictures that have been recently posted. I was at Camp Mar-Ven from 1956-1962 and loved every minute of it. Mike and I were among the many Camp Mar-Ven couples who met at camp and married. We have two kids, Stacy, who is married and lives in North Dartmouth, and Seth, who is single and lives in Waltham.
Mike and I will be moving permanently to the Cape upon my retirement at the end of June. We have purchased a home in Orleans, the first town in what we believe is the beginning of the "real Cape." We have always loved the Cape, returning summer after summer for long weekends (and always a visit to the Camp, first to visit Saul and Flip and then Martha and Eric) and finally spending two weeks each summer for the past six or seven years in Eastham.
I look forward to seeing many more of our old friends and fellow campers on this blog.
Martha told me about this website when we were together at Thanksgiving, and I was delighted. It's terrific to see so many familiar names here.
I was at Mar-Ven from the first year it opened until 1965, first as a camper and later as head of the dramatics department. Mike Epstein probably changed the course of my life when he asked me to do lighting for a play and showed me that working backstage could be as much fun as being on it. I met my husband years later when we were both "techies" in a theater group. Chuck and I have been married for 38 years and live in NH. Our 2 children Laura, 31, and Ed, 29, both live in NY. Ed just became engaged, so we're knee deep in wedding plans these days.
My parents spent many summers after camp was gone in the old cook's cottage near Flip and Saul's house. Obviously my kids never went to Mar-Ven, but they feel a strong connection because of the many times they stayed with their grandparents.
My brother Larry lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 2 sons.
I remember a lot of people stopping by the campsite, many of whom I knew. I look forward to seeing even more here.
Hi, Martha: I guess I'm the first non MAR-VEN alumni on this site, but most of the other respondents are familiar. I do remember visiting the camp in the spring of 1957 with you, your dad and your brother Steve(Garcia)to move about 12 tons of railroad ties around the softball field. I felt like one of Tom Sawyer's white-washers, but during that period I would follow Steve anywhere. I was always a little nervous around your house because, although Saul was always wonderful to me, your Mother had thrown me out of Hebrew school when I was 9 and she terrified me. As I recall you were so stunning back then that I was probably pretty scared of you to. One of the things that caught my eye in this blog was the mention of Bonnie Mintz. When Steve and I were about 12 we walked from New Bedford to Providence(who knows why?)and we stopped by to visit Bonnie in Fall River. I had never heard her name before, nor did I ever see her again, but I remember how poised she was when we two idiots turned up at her doorstep on the way to Providence. I never thanked her for the snack. I'm sorry to hear that your dad passed away. I liked him and picture him with his pipe. It is nice to hear that the rest of the family is fine. I've only seen Steve once in the past 50 years, and I can only picture you as about 11. Nostalgia is great. I always wished that I had had the opportunity to be a camper at Mar-Ven. The blog is a great idea. Enjoy it Fondly, Dennis
I am thrilled to see a Camp Mar-ven website! My brother Eric and I went to camp for several summers in the 60's and I have many, many fond memories of those days. Especially my performance as the Wicked Witch of the West one year.
Lately the songs we sang about camp after dinner keep going through my mind so I decided to see what was on Google. I would love a reunion and I hope that one can be arranged soon.
I am saddened to hear about Saul's passing. He was a wonderful man with a huge heart. Some years ago I visited the old camp site and visited with Saul and Flip. Saul took me to the old boathouse and showed me some of the photos and other memorabilia he still has around. I was in one of the photos.
Martha, if you do plan a reunion please count me in to assist.
Amy Baker Howell just forwarded this to me and I am astonished! What a blast from the past. We attended Mar-Ven from around '68-'70 I think. I go with my family almost every summer to Wellfleet and drive down Mar-ven way and try to explain to my husband and kids where the camp was. We love going to PJs, Marconi Beach and to the Mass Audobon trails! Mar-ven was the best camp ever. My son enjoys Crane Lake camp in the Berkshires, another Jewish camp, but it is so huge by comparison.
I was at camp when Mr. Lessard was the cook - Lisa was in my cabin and I think her sister went to the camp also. Bev was my counselor. If anyone wants to e-mail me I'm at lplosker@comcast.net. I live with my husband and two boys, Aaron,14 and Bennett,10 in Lexington.
My name is Charlie Cohen and I went to camp from '68to'72. I was in a bunk with Ray Hillson as the counselor I think for 3 years. I remember this was such a great place to be and I have nothing but fond memories of the time spent there.
Hello from Bonnie, Marc & Erica Brett, We're very excited to see this blog. We had some of the best times of our life in Wellfleet harbor. We still visit every chance we get and are sure to have an order of the best onion rings in the world at PJs.
Would love to be in touch with friends from the summer of 1967 till the end in 1972.

Hello Camp Mar-Ven!! 6/15/2008 Gary Adelson (best camper 1967) steered me to this site.
I'm Bruce Tanzer - spent the 8 best summers of my life from 1965 through 1972 at Mar-Ven. Great to see so many familiar names.
I also visited Saul & Flip for several summers after camp ended. Such wonderful people! I visit Wellfleet whenever I can and drive down to the Boathouse to reminisce.
My wife Joan & I live in Easton, MA. We have a son Adam (25) and a daughter Samantha (21)- both of whom spent summers at Camp JORI, a similar "kosher style" camp in Narragansett, RI,
Although they were from before my time at Mar-Ven, I really enjoyed all the photos of those earlier years. I saw Larry Kenswil, Brian Cutler, and Howie Finer, and I especially liked #037 with those cute Hozid sisters!
I am Jane (Goldman) Spigel, CMV 68-72. What a surprise when Sue Hirsh discovered this blog and sent me a message on facebook which I am still trying to figure out how to use. This is my first blog ever. I was at Mar-Ven with my brother Richard Goldman and cousin Peter Short. I am still in touch with several people, including Susan Koplan, but would love to hear from others. The NY girls are first on my list. I live in Framingham and as the good nurse Bev Hozid, I am a nurse and worked at Jewish overnight camps for several summers. She deserved a medal! I am a nurse at Framingham High School, married to Marc for 27 years and have three daughters- 23, 21, and 19. I don't know Mike Holmes, but thanks for doing this! jkspigel@aol.com Jane- 1/10/09 @ 10:50 AM
This is my second comment since finding the site. We all would love to see more pics and uploads put on the site. As a camper and CIT and councellor at Mar-Ven during the 60's, I still have the best of memories. Also, how can we get more alumni on here and maybe even have an alumni party. Emai me at carey@vinart.com with any comments or suggestions.
Hi, I'm Sue Hirsh and I went to Camp Mar-Ven from 1968 - 1972. As many others expressed, some of my fondest memories are from those summers growing up!
I also went to visit the camp. I think it was 1996 or 1997. I saw Saul, and he let me look around the boathouse. It was wonderful to see the pictures and the Blue and White boards. Afterward, I had a great visit with Saul and Flip. It was all lovely trip down memory lane!
How terrific that there is a Camp Mar-Ven website. It's great to see the familiar names. Thanks to Mike Holmes for setting it up.
I think it would be great to get the word out to others about this site. Word of mouth is one way. There were so many families(brothers, sisters, cousins), as well as people who have kept in touch through the years. I worked at a JCC camp in Maine (Camp Naomi)that was quite similar to Mar-Ven. There was recently a reunion that was incredible. Seeing people we hadn't seen in 30 years or more was truly awesome. I would bet that we could get the word out and have a Camp Mar-Ven reunion. Please count me in to help make that happen.
Hey everyone...Thanks to Carey Clayman for referring me to this website. I attended Camp from 1966 to 1971 and have many fond memories of the great people and fun carefree times from my youth.
One of the memories I have is when Flip caught David Stoller and myself after we snuck out to First National for some M&M's and Bolster bars. She caught us carrying the candy in a small paper bag and gave us hell. It wasn't pretty.
But aside from that episode I fondly remember sailing trips to Great Island and Jeremy Point. The Saturdays at Newcombs or Cahoons Hollow beach and the barbecues at night. The competitive Blue and White games and the final banquet awards night. There was always love in the air somewhere at camp and I always tried to find it.
Anyways I would hope that someday somehow we could have a big Camp Marven reunion in the Dining Hall if it's still there. My best to everyone from those great Summers from Boca Raton , Florida...
Hi everyone: I have been in contact with the Wellfleet Museum to find out what materials might be available for us to use on the website. I am attaching David Wright's response. Perhaps someone in the Mass. area can go and copy these documents and we can upload them. Pictures of anything they have would be great. Let me know at carey@vinart.com.
Thanks- Carey Clayman

What a treat to find this blog! I was a camper at Mar-Ven in the early 60s. My parents could afford one month of camp only and I so looked forward to that one month! I was disappointed that I was never able to participate in Color War ... but I think we had "Ivy League" activities that almost took the place of color war. I was chosen "Sabbath Queen" once. Although Janie Sass was a much better queen ... I gave it my all. I remember the names ...Herb Seltzer, Arthur Siegel, Becky, Mike ... Flip and Saul ... I'm flooded with wonderful memories. I've visited the boat house. I don't know who took me there. Seeing the old photos was a treat. I'll be in P-town in August ... and, as I do each year as we pass through Wellfleet, will think of that turn that took me to camp ... and how I loved those years. Roberta (Kessler) Harris
Chuck MIller here, I attended camp from it's inception in 55 till 68 or 69. I met my wife Sue (Nason) there. and we were married in 70. As Flip and Saul's nephew we have continued to go to the camp almost every year. My children have been there many times. My son is married and I have a grand-daughter. She has been to camp as well. I have the fondest memories of Camp. I loved every minute. We live in Brookline and would love to hear from any one who was at camp with us. Now that both my Aunt and Uncle are gone, it seems more bittersweet when we visit. I am sorry to report that Aunt Flip passed away last week. I am sure Martha and Steve (Garcia) would love to hear from you regarding your remembrances
If you would like to email me my email is cjmiller[at sign].informed-solutions.com
As did others, I "googled" Camp Mar-Ven on a whim and am thrilled to see the site. The two half-summers that I spent there early 1960s -- 1962 and 1963 if my dates are correct -- were truly wonderful.
What I remember most about the camp were the musicals where talent was never a prerequisite and sports required no great skill. As I recall, the idea was to be a kid and really have fun.
Not only are square dancing and talent show nights lodged in the recesses of my memory bank, but so are "movie" evenings. I have no idea who selected the films but I clearly remember watching two that were made many years earlier -- "The Eddie Duchin Story" and "The Enchanted Cottage." Despite being movies that pre-dated our generation, campers were reduced to tears. Although I had not thought of it before today, my life long interest in films probably started at Camp Mar-Ven with those two tearjerkers.
After a working adult life as a teacher in New York City, my husband, Bruce, and I moved to Old Saybrook, CT. he died in 2005. I am still living here and, as it's, as it's on the way to the Cape, anyone who is passing through on a pilgrimage to Wellfleet should let me know and say hello.
I look forward to reading more about this magical place.
Liz (Davidson) Wright
P.S. By the way, where is Mark Mintz? He and my brother were close friends growing up in Fall River and I last saw him in the early 1970s. Does anyone know?
I just returned from spending 5 beautiful days in Wellfleet and I have to say that not much has changed. The charm and beauty of the place spark a lot of wonderful memories. My husband and I found ourselves sitting next to Susan Koplan and her family on the beach of Cahoons Hollow. Susan and I looked at each other in complete shock and began remembering about the times we slept on that beach during our summers at CMV. Besides Cahoons we swam in Great Pond and followed the trail through the marshes of Great Island. Martha is interested in helping to organize a reunion. I said that I would help. Stay tuned.... Jane 8/28/09
Hi everyone: I just read Jane's note and I am jealous that she spent 5 days in Wellfleet. It would be great to have a reunion and count me in for any help that's needed. I have been saying this for years now and just hope we can put it together. Let us know when and where.
Oh my gosh. I can't believe there is a blog site and website for Camp Mar-Ven! The best summer of my life was the summer I spent at Camp Mar-Ven with Lisa Davidson and Karen Weisberg and our camp counselor Bev! I think I was there in 1970. Every day was a joy and an adventure at Camp Mar-Ven. I remember getting ready for those Friday night dances, I remember the campfires and the races and the arts and crafts and oh, just everything. Saul and Flip were wonderful. They understood kids and understood FUN and they made sure kids and fun went hand in hand.
Dear Mar-Venites. I have so many fond memories of Mar-Ven and all the wonderful campers & counselors. Over the pat years I had contacted a few compers on my own, including Carey Clayman. My sister, Janice, brother Michael and I attended camp Mar-Ven in the 60's. Jay was only there for one year but Michael and I spent 5 summers. Mar-Ven had such an impact on Michael that for the last few years he has been renting a house in Wellfleet for two wweeks during the summer. This summer our whole family joined him in July. We were visited by our old friends, Bonnie and Mark Mintz whose parents were best friends with my parents in Plainfield, NJ. That is how we Jerseyites found out about Mar-Ven. On our first visit to Wellfleet about 17 years ago we went to camp and found Saul. He presented Michael and I with our 5-year pins and we identified ourselves in photos that were hung in the old boat house. This summer we were so happy to have dinner with Martha and meet her husband. Martha looks just like Flip! Anyway-I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me at all. Sheryl Berman? Diane Rubinoff? Meryl Harvey? Where are you? Let's have a reunion in the next year. By the way- I have been living in Virginia near Washington, DC for the past 40 years. Camp had such an impact on me that for the past 25 years I have owned a business called Summer Solutions. I am a camp advisor that actually helps parents find the "right" camp for their kids. My web site is www.summersolutions.com. My email address is nsoschin@summersolutions.com and I am also on facebook. Would love to hear from anyone. Nancy Young Soschin
I was just directed to this Blog via Sue Hirsh and am so flooded with memories and of all the familiar names of people I remember from the many years I spent at camp Mar-Ven. Bruce, I loved your comment about the Hozid sisters! As some of you know, my Mother was the camp nurse from 1960 until the end. I was there the summers through 1968, went to a music camp for 2 years and then was back in 1971, however, I stayed there and worked at PJ's. I was a counselor the next year. My sister Amy was there longer than I was. My life was so shaped by Camp Mar-Ven, I lived for the summers there. It was my real world and the place I had most fun. Doug, I too, used to sneak out to the IGA but I don't remember getting caught. I pulled a few other antics like standing in the fog on the baseball field where no one could see me. I guess people were looking for me for a while and I finally came out. I have rolls and rolls of film that my parents had taken and are now on VHS tapes from all the events over the years we were there. I think we have every play, musical, lots of Ivy League and Color War movies, Sabbath dances (yes, I was the queen once)and more. I also became a nurse and worked one year at a summer camp in the Poconos, where I met my husband.
On a sad note, my Mother has had Alzheimer's for almost ten years. She lives in a facility near me in Palm Harbor FL (near Tampa). My Dad passed away two years ago from another type of dementia.
For those of you who remember our pug Muffins, she lived with my husband and me for the last 4 years of her life and died in her sleep at age 15. She was a great dog. We have had four more pugs since, and currently have two of them.
Carey, you had a great voice. I hope you've done more singing. Doug Coill and Mike Young and Bruce Tanzer, I remember all the good times we had. I remember Mike Holmes from my earlier days, and the Mintzes, Peter Short, The Bretts. Of course the Kenswils. Sue Nason...I was at Andy's Bar Mitzvah! I would love to see Martha and Garcia again. I loved when Steve used to lead songs around the campfire. Anyone remember Ricky Rosen who was a great pianist and played while we sang after meals? And I think for most of the musicals.
Well, my husband Paul and I had two children who are now 29 and 31 and we have 4 grandchildren. We sent our daughter to camp for 4 years and our son for 1 (he wouldn't go the other years) because we are such believers in the value of the camp experience. But it wasn't like Camp Mar-Ven!
My parents stayed at the "infirmary" for many summers after the camp closed and then they bought a mobile home behind the drive-in theater and spent long summers there until 2003.
Well, I've rambled on enough, but Camp Mar-Ven and all the wonderful people there meant so much to me.
I can be reached at dlangrock@yahoo.com. I'd love to hear from any of you. Or friend me on Facebook.
Sue Hirsh and Elise Hoffman, who attended Camp Mar-Ven for several years in the late 60’s and early 70’s, would like to get the ball rolling for a Camp Mar-Ven reunion, possibly in 2011. We are starting by contacting people from this site and the Facebook Group. Do you know any other former campers or counselors? Please help us get the word out and have people contact one of us so we can add them to the list.
If you are interested in being on a committee to plan a reunion, attending when we have one or have suggestions to pass along please let one of us know.
We hope that you are doing well and to hear back from you soon!
Thanks,
Sue (suehirsh@yahoo.com) and Elise (elise@elisebhoffman.com)
My name is Ellen Block and my entire family and extended family were at Camp Marven in the early 60's. We have such great memories of Camp Marven, including those crazy capture the flag all camp games. Great to see some of the photos.

A few days ago, we analyzed the 2010 day-dream baseball pitcher sleepers to sentinel in 2010. Today, we assess as a look at the more signal side of the equation - pretence baseball hitters sleepers. Jack
Greetings from the Feldman sisters, Gail and Fran. We were so excited to discover this blog and look forward to hearing from fellow campers. Our combined memories are not great, but we think ours summers spent at wonderful Camp Mar-ven spanned from approx. mid 1960's - 1972. We enjoyed reading about our mutual camp friends and look forward to re-connecting. Please keep us posted on any camp news and future reunion plans - we share all the same fond memories of summers spent in Wellfleet.

Jerry Kier CIT - Counselor (1960 - 1962 I think). Anyone in contact with NY campers/staff (Littman's)? I am on the fence for the reunion since I live in Houston, Texas. Did not recognize many names on the reunion respondent list.
To those who have already sent in your registrations, thanks so much! Your early registrations have been extremely helpful.
For those of you who are undecided or haven’t been able to send in your registrations yet - because we have received a number of registrations and a few generous donations, we have met certain financial commitments, and we are pleased to say that we can now extend the time for final registrations to July 1, 2011. Due to our need to provide a count in advance to our caterer, we will not be able to accept payment at the door on Saturday night.
So, please let us know on or before July 1st if you will be attending the reunion at the Inn at Duck Creeke. We sincerely hope that we will see you in Wellfleet this August!
David Rosen here. It was great to run across the Mar-Ven site. I was there from '62-'70 as a camper/CIT/counselor. I always considered camp to be an important influence in my life in many ways. One of them - I live in Hawaii now where its always summer.
I'd like to make it to the reunion, but I won't be able to. But I would like to stay in touch. You can contact me at drosen@hawaii.rr.com.
And if anyone can figure out a way that we can upload pictures to the website, I have some that I can digitize that weren't taken by the camp photographer. There are a few of an epic waterfight outside the B-Yellow cabins.
I would come if there was anyone who could pick me up and bring me back to Woodshole as I will be on Martha's Vineyard and have no car. I could also take the ferry into Hyannis, I know it's easier but the last ferry from there back to the vineyard is 8:45.
Ellen Rosenbaum, now (and for many years) Elana. I was aCT and counselor back in the late 50's to I think 61 or 62. It ws a special time and place. Elana (You can check me out on www.mindfuliving.com) I now teach meditation and lead workshops as well as do psychotherapy. I live in Worcester, MA and am married to David (Levitin) who went to camp in CT--

It looks no one has posted in a If anyone recognizewhile. I went to Camp Mar-Ven in 1963 and 1964 with my cousin Helaine Blonder Davis. I have so many fond memories. I was the only girl from MA in a bunk of mostly girls from Newton. I continued to study dance off and on until my 30's. I still have short hair and alas, am no longer thin! I have 3 children Shimona, of blessed memory (would have been 49 this year), and had one daughter Claudia (25). Allison (44) and has 3 children (Jerry 17, Isabella (15) and Sophie (10) and Matthew (40) and single.I left MA in 1969 for central Florida. After 20 years, I moved to CT for 3.5 years. I finally landed in TX for the last 30 years. If anyone recognizes me, chime in and give me a blast from the past. Nancy Goldberg Aldredge knitmail@gmail.com

Hi everyone.
More soon.
Martha
Hi Martha, Camp Marven has always held a place in my heart. I've driven through several times over the years or just sat on the pier in Wellfleet and looked across the bay. About 15 years ago I knocked on your parents door. Your dad came out and said "Hi Jimmy" like 35 years had never passed. I had a wonderful visit with them.
I recognized many faces and although I am not in contact with anyone I will do what I can to spread the word. I think it's a wonderful idea to have a reunion and a database. Let me be the first to add my name.
Best Regards,
Jim Wollison

Hi to all,
I went to Camp MarVen 1968-71, and loved every minute of it.
Carey
Mike
Hi,
It was nice to see what Mike has done.
often talk about camp quite often.
Marge and I would stop by the Camp
every summer to say hi to Saul and flip. The last time we stopped by Martha and her husband were there
and we had a chance to talk about old times. I speak to arthur evrey week he is as nutty as ever. He told me about the web site ( he heard from a relative Risha Margolis).WE would like to hear more and would appreciate it if some of the original staff pictures were available.
Herb and Marge Seltzer
I will never forget the kindness that Saul and Flip always bestowed upon me. Even 30 years on I remember it like it was yesterday.
God Bless You all.
See you at the beach!

Hi all,
Martha told me about this website when we were together at Thanksgiving, and I was delighted.
Best,
jackie (kenswil) rossier
Enjoy it
Fondly, Dennis

Hi All,
Amy Baker Howell just forwarded this to me and I am astonished!
Lisa Davidson Plosker
My name is Charlie Cohen and I went to camp from '68to'72. I was in a bunk with Ray Hillson as the counselor I think for 3 years. I remember this was such a great place to be and I have nothing but fond memories of the time spent there.
Best Personal Regards,
Charlie
Hello from Bonnie, Marc & Erica Brett,
We're very excited to see this blog. We had some of the best times of our life in Wellfleet harbor. We still visit every chance we get and are sure to have an order of the best onion rings in the world at PJs.
Would love to be in touch with friends from the summer of 1967 till the end in 1972.

Hello Camp Mar-Ven!! 6/15/2008
Gary Adelson (best camper 1967) steered me to this site.
Hope to see more fellow campers here.

I don't know Mike Holmes, but thanks for doing this! jkspigel@aol.com

Thanks- Carey Clayman - 1/10/09
Hi,
I'm Sue Hirsh and I went to Camp Mar-Ven from 1968 - 1972.
Best to all,
Sue

Hi to Bonnie, Bruce, Jane,
I had a great 2 years (69-70) at MarVen and were glad to hear a handful of my old campmates are doing well.
I've visited the campsite over the years and have a friend with a large contemporary in the old camp craft area - it's a bit bizarre visiting there.
I've got some photos from the G Green bunk (69) and will try to post them this summer.

Hi All,
Chuck MIller here, I attended camp from it's inception in 55 till 68 or 69.
Will report again another day
Hi there,
As did others, I "googled" Camp Mar-Ven on a whim and am thrilled to see the site.
Carey
Doug Coill and Mike Young and Bruce Tanzer, I remember all the
good times we had.
Debbie Hozid Langrock 11/13/10
Hello!
I posted some pictures on the Facebook group page from our recent trip to Wellfleet. Hope you enjoy!

My name is Ellen Block and my entire family and extended family were at Camp Marven in the early 60's. Our clan included Walter, John, Jane and Sherry Sass, Ellen and Bobby Rosenbaum, me and my brother Stephen. We have such great memories of Camp Marven, including those crazy capture the flag all camp games. Great to see some of the photos.

Our clan included Walter, John, Jane and Sherry Sass, Ellen and Bobby Rosenbaum, me and my brother Stephen. We have such great memories of Camp Marven, including those crazy capture the flag all camp games. Great to see some of the photos.
A few days ago, we analyzed the 2010 day-dream baseball pitcher sleepers to sentinel in 2010. Today, we assess as a look at the more signal side of the equation - pretence baseball hitters sleepers.

Hello to All!

Hi Everyone,
David Rosen here.
Elana (You can check me out on www.mindfuliving.com)
I now teach meditation and lead workshops as well as do psychotherapy. I live in Worcester, MA and am married to David (Levitin) who went to camp in CT--

If anyone recognizewhile.
